Infection of the brain and spinal cord along with its coverings or brain tissues are broadly taken up as neuroinfectious diseases. The organs commonly affected are brain parenchyma, meninges, ventricles or spinal cord.

Meningitis : Inflammation of the membranes surrounding the brain and spinal cord, often characterized by fever, headache, and stiff neck.

Encephalitis : Inflammation of the brain tissue, which can cause altered mental status,seizures, and other neurological symptoms.

Myelitis : Inflammation of the spinal cord, which can lead to weakness, numbness, or paralysis.

Brain Abscess : A collection of pus within the brain tissue, often caused by a localized infection.
