Demyelinating illnesses are neurological conditions where the protective myelin sheath surrounding nerve fibres is damaged, leading to various symptoms. This damage can affect both the central nervous system (brain and spinal cord) and the peripheral nervous system (nerves outside of the brain and spinal cord).
