Common Symptoms
- Sudden Weakness or Numbness: This can affect the face, arm, or leg, usually on one side of the body
- Trouble Speaking or Understanding: Slurred speech, difficulty finding the right words, or trouble understanding what others are saying can be a sign.
- Vision Problems: Sudden vision loss, double vision, or blurred vision in one or both eyes.
- Balance and Coordination Issues: Difficulty walking, dizziness, loss of balance,or lack of coordination.
- Sudden Severe Headache: This headache is often described as the worst headache a person has ever experienced.
- Other Possible Symptoms: Nausea, vomiting, confusion, mood swings, or a sudden change in personality can also occur.
Recognise a Stroke
The F.A.S.T Acronym
- F: ace: Ask the person to smile. Is one sider droopy?
- A: rms: rms: Ask the person to raise both arms. Does one drift downward?
- S: peech: Ask the person to repeat a simple sentence. Is their speech slurred?
- T: ime: If you see any of these signs, even if they seem to go away, call emergency
services immediately.
